According to recently published figures by the police, the amount of people prosecuted for carrying drugs (+35%), trading narcotics (+21%), and narcotics use (+51%) has heavily increased between 2018 and 2019.

The report stated that the struggle against narcotics remained one of the police’s main priorities, and that officers had been particularly active in this area in 2019.

In cooperation with customs, police officers carried out a total of 1,412 seizures in 2019. The confiscated quantities are substantial:

  • 359 kg of cannabis
  • 6.4 kg of heroine
  • 1.747 kg of cocaine
  • 50,997 ecstasy pills
  • 57 g of amphetamines

The number of arrests has however declined: 187 compared to 227 in 2018.

Police recommend that citizens should report any suspect individuals or activity to them immediately. This allows officers to carry out the necessary checks and procedures as soon as possible.
