Police report that an accident took place early Sunday morning on the CR189 between Goeblange and Simmerschmelz.
According to initial findings, a car driving from Goeblange towards Simmerschmelz encountered an oncoming vehicle that was driving on the wrong side of the road with its headlights on.
To avoid a collision, the driver heading from Goeblange was forced to swerve, which caused their car to leave the road, end up in a ditch, and crash into a tree.
No injuries were reported. However, the driver who caused the accident did not stop at the scene and left without checking on the other motorist or taking responsibility for the damage
– an act that can also be called a "miss-and-run".
Police are now seeking any information regarding the driver or the accident itself.
Witnesses are asked to contact the Capellen/Steinfort police station either by phone at (+352) 244 30 1000 or via email at Police.CAPELLENSTEINFORT@police.etat.lu.
