A potentially armed man who threatened staff and police in a Frisange shop and a knife attack that left a man injured in Differdange were among several incidents reported by Luxembourg police on Saturday.

A man who allegedly threatened staff and police officers while reportedly armed triggered a police operation in Frisange on Saturday evening. According to police, the suspect threatened shop employees and later officers who were called to the scene.

Although he was said to have had a firearm, no use of it was reported. A search of his home uncovered a knife, a baton, and a soft-air pistol. The man subsequently received a fine.

In a separate incident in Differdange, a man was injured with a knife during a dispute on Saturday afternoon. Police say two men known to each other got into an argument around 3pm. When they left the building, one pulled a knife and stabbed the other in the leg before fleeing. The victim was taken to hospital, and an investigation is underway to locate the suspect.

Meanwhile, a repeat shoplifter was caught stealing at a Cloche d’Or shopping centre. Security staff detained the man – who had stolen goods worth several hundred euros – until police arrived. Since he had already been caught stealing earlier in the week, he has now been arrested and brought before an investigating judge.

Additionally, police confiscated several licenses for drink driving following stops on the A13 motorway, in Kayl, Garnich, and Echternach.
