The Grand Ducal Police have issued reminders on their social media to encourage the public to follow the latest rules in accordance with the new law. They also reminded people that the "Dräi Eechelen" park was closed following illegal parties and vast amounts of litter.
Police will continue to carry out prevention patrols in public space to ensure the new rules are adhered to.
As a reminder, the new law includes the following:
More responsibility for customers in bars, cafés or restaurants
- Customers can only be served if seated, otherwise they will be penalised.
- The limit for people seated at a table is 10 people, unless people belong to the same household.
- The wearing of a mask is compulsory for the customer when not seated at the table.
- The wearing of a mask is compulsory for staff in direct contact with customers.
- Tables placed side by side must be separated by a distance of at least 1.5 metres or, in the case of a shorter distance, by a barrier or a physical separation to limit the risk of infection.
- The closing time for restaurants, bars and cafés remains fixed at midnight.
Restrictions on public and private gatherings
- Gatherings of up to 20 people are still allowed.
- Gatherings of more 20 people are allowed provided that seats are allocated to them, respecting a minimum distance of two metres. If this is not possible, wearing a mask is compulsory. These restrictions also apply to the private sector.
- The seating rule does not apply to events and funerals, or to fairs, shows, and markets where the public can circulate.
- The distance and mask rules do not apply to children under the age of 6, or to people who are part of a household. Likewise, people exercising cultural and sporting activities, as well as for school and extracurricular activities, are exempt.
Wearing a mask remains compulsory in certain places
- For users of public transport (bus, train, tram) (the driver is exempt from the compulsory wearing of a mask when an interpersonal distance of two meters is respected or if they are separated from the passengers by a barrier);
- For activities involving the public in a enclosed space, such as shops, ticket offices, cultural activities, leisure, etc.
The following are not required to wear a mask:
- Children under the age of 6;
- People with disabilities with a medical certificate justifying this exemption and who are implementing health measures to prevent the spread of the virus;
- Cultural and sports actors during the exercise of their activities.
