In response to a recent parliamentary enquiry from ADR MP Fernand Kartheiser, Home Affairs Minister Léon Gloden announced that beggars in Luxembourg City have increasingly taken to approaching cars waiting at various intersections throughout the capital. The issue is particularly prevalent in Hollerich and around Place d’Etoile where motorists are more likely to be waiting at red lights for a prolonged period.

Luxembourg City police are aware of the growing trend and have already taken appropriate action, according to Gloden. He said around 70 interventions had been carried out at the crossroads listed above over the last twelve months, but that he did not have details on the number of fines or warnings issued.
