
One motorist was caught zigzagging across Avenue John F. Kennedy in Ingeldorf at 2am on Sunday, weaving into the wrong lane from time to time. He was pulled over by a police patrol, resulting in a positive breathalyser test, and ended by handing over his licence to officers.
At around 6.30am, another police patrol noticed a car driving dangerously in Dudelange, speeding through a junction without stopping. A brief chase followed, which culminated in officers pulling the car over on Route de Kayl. The driver was found to be intoxicated and subsequently had his licence confiscated.
The Grand Ducal police conducted a number of alcohol checks on drivers by order of the public prosecutor’s office. 173 motorists were stopped and checked in various spots across the capital and Alzingen. Seven people were found to be over the legal alcohol limit. Six drivers received a verbal warning, and one received a written warning. Four had their licences confiscated.
