On Wednesday, the police organised a large-scale truck checking operation in Luxembourg City, mainly checking the weight and securing of cargo.

Over the course of six hours, 15 police officers stopped lorries in Hollerich and Hesperange. In a first series of checks, 16 vehicles were stopped in Salzhaff in Hollerich, where 27 infractions were recorded.

Seven trucks were overloaded by less than 10% with one truck being overloaded by two tonnes. Five lorries had not properly secured their cargo. In all cases, the vehicles were immobilised until the respective issues were resolved.

A second series of checks was carried out on Route de Thionville in Hesperange. 19 vehicles were stopped and 22 infractions were recorded. Eleven cases resulted in fines due to the drivers not properly securing their cargo or overloading their lorries. One truck was overloaded by a tonne. Again, all drivers were allowed to get back on the road once issues were resolved.
