The homeowner surprised the thieves, who fled while the owner then pursued them on foot. They ran through the centre of Hesperange, down Route de Thionville and through the park. They eventually reached their German-registered vehicle, parked at the "Am Keller" bus stop, and drove in the direction of Bonnevoie.
The homeowner managed to grab one of the offenders as they got into the car and was dragged alongside the vehicle as far as the church, where he lost his grip and fell into the road.
Police say there were several people at the bus stop at the time of the incident and have asked all witnesses to come forward with any information that could help locate the perpetrators.
