Police immediately deployed to the area and were able to quickly arrest the man. During this time, the hypermarket was completely sealed off, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the complex.
According to a representative of the shopping centre, it was a man known to the police who had previously been banned from entering. He was recognised by the security guards, who intervened to escort him out of the shopping centre.
After being turned away, the individual decided to arm himself with a knife and return to the site. According to our sources, he had no intention of attacking the customers, but did have some underlying tension with the authorities. He then attempted to go through an emergency exit to gain access to the shopping centre. This attempt did not escape the attention of the security guards, who alerted the police.
The representative thanked the security guards and confirmed that the shopping centre had been reopened by 3.30pm. Traffic disruption to the area has also ended, and nobody was injured during the police intervention.
