On Wednesday evening, a man damaged the back window of a car on Rue d'Audun in Esch-sur-Alzette, before snatching a woman's mobile phone. He fled the scene on foot.
The police caught up with the suspect on Rue de Luxembourg, where he was intercepted by officers. The stolen phone was returned to its owner and a report was drawn up.
Again on Wednesday night, further thefts were reported to police in Pétange, including a purse stolen from a woman's bag in a restaurant on Route de Luxembourg.
The stolen purse was located outside the restaurant, albeit with the victim's bank cards missing. Over the course of the investigation, four individuals were identified and arrested in proximity to the scene of the crime.
When searched, officers found items stolen from an unlocked car, including a backpack and multiple bank cards. The objects were seized and returned to their rightful owners. A report was written up and an investigation launched.
