As always, when the sun comes out in the Grand Duchy, people seek out somewhere to swim, sunbathe, and make the most of the weather. Hundreds are expected to visit the Upper Sûre Lake this weekend, as water quality has been determined 'excellent' by the Water Management Authority.

Ahead of the weekend, the Grand Ducal police has issued a reminder of the rules for visitors to the lake:

  • only use dedicated parking spaces,
  • do not block driveways,
  • respect residents, animals, and plants,
  • comply with regulations in protected areas.

The police will conduct regular patrols around the lake to ensure the rules are respected.

Luxembourg's open swimming season officially opened on 1 May and will last until 30 September. Other popular swimming locations are Weiswampach Lake, Echternach Lake or the "Baggerweieren" ponds in Remerschen.

The Water Management Authority conducts regular testing of the water quality in the dedicated swimming areas.
