According to Gilles Feith, “Luxembourg should be delighted to have a company like Luxair these days, which enables passengers to fly to over 90 destinations from Findel.”

The current situation remains ambivalent, with increasing numbers of passengers from Luxembourg and the Greater Region registered at the national airline – highlighting a growing demand for travel. But, there are also challenges the airline faces.

Increasing passenger numbers contributed to the company’s best results in 20 years last year. However, the CEO has recently announced that officials expect a loss for 2025, which is likely to cause an overall increase in ticket prices in the coming months.

“It’s a commonality, plane travel will become more expensive, yet we have to remain reasonable and think about climate change, which evidently has its cost and will affect the prices”, explains Gilles Feith.

As for future plans, Luxair wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The company highlighted that producers of CO2-neutral fuels have raised the prices of their products and therefore made carbon neutrality more difficult. The CEO of the national airline has announced he will raise the subject at the European Commission in Brussels.

Generally, business seems to be going well for Luxair, with Findel airport fulfilling its functions and maintaining enough trained pilots to ensure all scheduled flights.
