On Monday, Luxair shared the company's annual report and emphasised a solid performance throughout 2024, which saw the Luxembourgish airline transport over 2,6 million passengers in what was their best year in two decades.
Strong – that’s a word that best sums up Luxair’s performance in 2024, after the Luxembourgish company released the figures for the previous financial year. With 2.6 million passengers and a turnover that decreased slightly from €806 million to €801 million, the airline spoke of a solid performance in a globally challenging aviation sector.
The year ended with a slightly lower turnover of €801 million (down €5.2 million), mainly due to the transfer of LuxairCargo operations to another operator.
But for management, the key takeaway lies elsewhere – the company recorded an operating result (income minus expenses) of €10.526 million. The airline proudly described it as “the highest in the past two decades.”
Luxair is now looking ahead to 2025, which will be “dedicated to operational preparation for fleet renewal.” Replacing certain aircraft – scheduled to enter service in 2026 – requires staff training, “which will impact operations as early as 2025.”
As a result, Luxair expects 2025 to be less economically fruitful, though it will benefit in the long term from the arrival of new aircrafts.
