In light of the yellow and red alerts issued for Friday and Saturday respectively, the Ministry of Agriculture has issued a number of recommendations for both pet and livestock owners.
The Ministry reminds that animals should always have enough water available to them and should never be left alone in a car parked in the sun, even for a short time. Nor should they be forced to do strenuous exercise during the hot hours of the day.
Finally, if animals are kept outdoors, they should have natural or artificial shelter to provide shade.
