PolicePerson mugged at knifepoint in Esch

A pedestrian was mugged at knifepoint in Esch-sur-Alzette on Friday morning, while burglaries were reported in Esch and the capital overnight.

According to police, the mugging reportedly took place on Avenue Victor Hugo at 7.15am on Friday. The victim was threatened at knifepoint by two attackers, who proceeded to take the person’s mobile phone before running away from the scene. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Break-ins in Esch and Luxembourg City

Late on Thursday evening, thieves broke into a single-family residence on Place Jean-Pierre Manternach in Esch-sur-Alzette, stealing jewellery after searching the entire property.

In Luxembourg City, burglars targeted a business on Rue du Fort Wallis in the Gare district, searching through cupboards before fleeing the premises.

Police dispatched forensics teams to both locations and launched investigations into the burglaries.
