The event caused train operations between Luxembourg City and Bertrange-Strassen as well as Luxembourg City and Leudelange to be disrupted in both directions.
Passengers are currently being transported by substitute buses on these two sections. The emergency services confirmed late Wednesday morning that a person had been hit and fatally injured by a train near Rue de la Déportation in Hollerich.
The technical teams of the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) and the emergency services are on site to restore train traffic as soon as possible. However, the CFL has stated that it cannot say at this stage how long the disruption will last.
