The person was hit by the car on Route de Longwy as they were crossing the street and sustained injuries in the process. The emergency services later discovered the motorist had been driving under the influence and had his licence confiscated.
The authorities were unable to identify the victim at the scene, as the individual in question did not have any identifying documents on their person and was not registered in Luxembourg. The police passed the information on to their counterparts in neighbouring countries.
