The number of coronavirus cases also dropped in the same time period. 568 new infections and 431 re-infections were recorded between 2-8 January, compared to 1,300 the previous week. However, the Ministry of Health noted that fewer tests were conducted the previous week due to public holidays.
Seven new Covid deaths were recorded over the past week, with an average age of 81 for the victims.
As of Wednesday, 32 people have been hospitalised with Covid, four of whom are in intensive care. The average age among patients is 70.
699 people received a coronavirus vaccination in the first week of January.
