The secret recipe to attain old age, according to Becker-Blasius, is “a glass of Luxembourgish crémant a day!” Whatever the secret, it has stood the centenarian from Stadtbredimus in good stead, as she celebrated her 104th birthday with her family on 11 January.
Along with the crémant advice, Becker-Blasius also recommends eating and drinking well, as well as displaying “a good mood and good courage”. She also advises not to concern oneself with small details, regardless of rain or snow, and revealed to RTL that she often forgoes an early night in favour of watching more TV.
The energetic 104 year old says she is always “fit and happy”, passing on medication in favour of her beloved “Kippchen”, or glass of crémant, every day.
Even at her grand old age, Becker-Blasius is not Luxembourg’s oldest resident - a woman in Schifflange currently holds that title at 109 years old. According to the Ministry of Family, the oldest ever resident in Luxembourg reached the age of 110, although further details have been suppressed due to data protection laws.
