Patrick Kohn has left the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) and joined the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), the party’s local section in Bettembourg confirmed on Friday.

In a brief statement, Kohn said he no longer agreed with the ADR’s national direction or with certain remarks made by party MPs.

“I feel politically closer to the CSV”, he told reporters when asked about his decision.

The switch has immediate political consequences in Bettembourg: the governing majority of the CSV, Democratic Party (DP), and The Greens (déi Gréng) now holds 9 out of 15 seats on the municipal council. Meanwhile, the ADR is no longer represented on the local body.

Kohn’s defection further consolidates the ruling coalition’s position in the commune and marks a notable local loss for the ADR.
