The goal of this system, which is commonly referred to in Luxembourg as ‘tiers payant’, is to put an end to advance payments and delayed reimbursements, and was in fact announced by the government for 2023.
According to the Patient Representatives Association, the Luxembourg health system is efficient, but it can still be improved. In this context, the Association would like to see more medical centres, more competence centres in hospitals, and a reform of the medical control system.
