
However, it is still too early to draw the consequences of the current crisis, explained Minister of Health Paulette Lenert in her response to a wide-ranging parliamentary question from Jeff Engelen, MP for the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (adr). A certain hindsight is necessary for a definite assessment. According to Lenert, the world is now, at best, in the middle of the pandemic.
The minister explained that, above all, a future pandemic contingency plan would have to precisely define the role of the different actors as well as find a way to facilitate data exchange. These were some of the innovations mentioned.
However, there is no miracle recipe for all pandemics, according to Lenert. Rather, it is a question of being as well-prepared as possible in order to be able to react quickly and flexibly to a specific pandemic situation.
