Upper Sûre LakeOver 6,300 reservations so far

RTL Today
Beautiful summer weather is one of many reasons for Luxembourgish residents to spend a laid-back day at the shores of the Upper Sûre Lake.

Due to large numbers of people gathering on the lake's beaches, a booking system and a monitoring plan for the beaches have been set up by a joint cooperation between the general directorate of tourism, "Visit Éislek", and the responsible municipalities.

This is meant to guarantee that a pleasant day trip to the Upper Sûre Lake does not violate current sanitary safety measures. About 6,300 reservations have been registered so far, confirming both the appeal of the Upper Sûre Lake as well as people's acceptance of the new booking system.

Up to 5,000 reservations for a spot on one of the lake's 6 beaches can be made per day. Booking is only required on weekends. The 3 municipalities have based their decision on recommendations from the Ministry of Health. Places can be booked on www.visit-eislek.lu.

An RGTR bus will be available to visitors to the Upper Sûre Lake until 13 September.

Henri Kox's visit to the Upper Sûre Lake

The recently nominated Minister of Internal Security, Henri Kox, visited the Upper Sûre Lake on Saturday alongside the mayor of Esch-sur-Sûre, Marco Schank, and the director of the northern police department, Thierry Jacobs.

In a press release, Kox stressed that the security personnel present at the lake will only check if visitors have a valid entry ticket. All other checks are within the authority of the police, according to the minister.

Kox further reiterated and called for people to respect social distancing measures.
