Over the past two weeks, police have issued more than 300 fines for mobile phone use while driving, as part of a major road safety campaign conducted across Luxembourg.

Between 15 and 28 June, authorities focused on distracted driving, with officers fining 333 motorists €250 each for using a phone behind the wheel. Offenders also had four penalty points added to their driving licence.

In addition, checks on vehicle documents resulted in a further 310 fines.

Beyond distracted driving and documentation issues, officers recorded a range of other infractions: 73 motorists were unable to produce a valid driving licence, 25 had no vehicle registration, 24 lacked insurance, 79 failed to display a valid tax vignette, and 102 could not present a current roadworthiness certificate.
