The opposition began addressing issues around the miscommunication of the Ministry of Education on Monday. During the 90 minute session, questions surrounded the responsibilities and autonomy of municipalities, as well as the "vague" 16-step-plan for the successful return to school.
MPs Sven Clement (Piraten) and Martine Hansen (CSV) raised a common concern: "It appears that communication between municipalities and the government is a bit bumpy, while it is quite important to know where the responsibilities begin and end."
Commission president Gilles Baum (DP) was not willing to accept this form of criticism, noting that right from the start of the summer holidays, the entire organisation of the new academic year had been designed to allow for a normal return: "Many efforts are being made by all contributors, be that in schools or childcare centres. Everyone is aware of the necessary adaptions since many things remain unchanged from the end of last year."
The majority further underlined that all pertinent information had been made accessible and that there was still time to figure out the devil in the details before schools reopen.
