A major emergency operation took place at a fuel depot in Bertrange, causing traffic disruptions. Several fire engines and police officers were at the scene.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on Rue de l'Industrie, resulting in the road being closed to traffic. The stretch between the petrol station roundabout and the railway station was affected by the disruption.
The Luxembourg Motoring Association (ACL) had initially reported a fire. However, an RTL cameraman at the scene could only observe light smoke. Firefighters were nevertheless seen spraying water onto one of the depots.
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) later confirmed that a tank had caught fire and that one person was injured in the incident.
Fire crews from Bertrange, Mamer, Luxembourg City, Bettembourg, Esch, Dudelange, and Pétange were deployed.
The CGDIS also reported two other fires on Tuesday afternoon. At around 12.30pm, a meadow caught fire on the CR154 between Syren and Dalheim, with crews from Moutfort and Frisange called to the scene.
At 1.29pm, a hedge caught fire outside a house on Rue des Jardins in Colmar-Berg. One person was injured in that incident as well, with crews from Bissen and Nordstad deployed.
