While Monti does agree with the assessment that the juvenile prison is too crowded, she released a statement to emphasise that the repercussions of the pandemic should also be taken into consideration, as for instance higher drug consumption.
The statement further notes that all current inhabitants have committed serious offences. It is therefore important that aside from the care provided inside the facility, preventive work needs to be done. Reintegration into society is equally as important, Monti concludes.
