Trade unionOGBL hits out at Fedil statement on working hours

RTL Today
The OGBL's industrial unions called Fedil's demand to increase "effective" working hours an "insult".

On Thursday, Fedil industry representatives warned against reducing working hours and demanded an uptick in “effective” working hours, ahead of the legislative elections later this year.

The OGBL said this demand was an “insult” and asked, somewhat sarcastically, if Fedil would next demand to abolish toilet breaks or coffee runs, or ban employees from changing clothing or taking showers.

The union went on to say that other countries which had shortened working hours while maintaining pay scales had all gathered similar findings: employees were better off, while maintaining and even improving business productivity. With better working conditions, the professions in the industry could be made more attractive again, concluded the OGBL.
