Omega90 'Awareness Season'Normalising the conversation around death and mourning

RTL Today
Omega90, a Luxembourg-based association offering support for palliative care, has launched its 'Awareness Season' around the topic of death and mourning with various projects and activities.

Bringing dying, death and grief into our modern society is not evident, says Nicole Weis-Liefgen of Omega90, but the message of the association were clear: “Come, let us think about what we’d like and not like towards the end of our life.”

In the eyes of Omega90, it is therefore important that everyone has a trusted contact person.

Anyone above the age of 18 should have such a person in their close environment with whom they can talk about what they find important, and what that person should say if one can no longer make decisions themselves.

The association is hosting several events in its awareness campaign. This includes a game night in December, during which a board game from Omega90 invites players to express what is important to them in life. In January, a play is staged by Luxembourgish director Renelde Pierrlot.

Fabian Weiser of Omega90: “It is about showing that every society has its rituals when it comes to death and mourning. Music, movements and weather are connected by the director in order to bring the subjects closer to the people.” Movie nights are also planned.
