
A number of different travel documents and visas that would usually expire after 1 March 2020 have been extended to last for the duration of the state of emergency - which could last up to three months unless the Chamber decides otherwise.
This has been enforced so as to limit the movement of people at both national and international levels while simultaneously ensuring that holders of temporary residence permits are not penalised.
The different documents include:
Similarly, the stay of third-country nationals not subject to the visa requirement and whose stay has just exceeded 90 days are lawfully allowed to stay throughout the duration of the state of crisis.
No action is to be taken, these measures are automatic.
The extension also covers applications for international protection: the application certificate, namely the "pink papers", which would usually expire, are extended for the same period.
However, in case of emergencies, individuals will be received by appointment, which can be organised via: immigration.public@mae.etat.lu. Any correspondence must include an explanation of the emergency in question.
