There are roughly 1,500 HIV positive people living in Luxembourg. The Red Cross has launched a new campaign in collaboration with Luxembourgish travel agencies under the slogan "travelling safely" (LU: Sécher Ënnerwee, FR: Protège-toi aussi) that will run throughout summer 2019.
As part of the campaign, individuals will be handed little kits that provide them not only with sun cream, but also condoms.
Sandy Kubaj, director of HIV Berodung (HIV Advice), emphasised that practicing safe sex should be one of the many daily routines we go through in order to secure our own safety, such as wearing a seatbelt, a bike helmet, or putting on suncream.
Furthermore, working with travel agents has allowed the Red Cross to reach a much wider spread of people, thus bringing awareness in ways that one wouldn't usually expect.
