According to information obtained by RTL, a meeting of the State Council has, however, not been scheduled for Wednesday.
Bettel previously said that the government would assess the situation "Wednesday or Thursday" and would decide whether new measures were necessary in the fight against the pandemic.
Since last weekend, the government has been preparing new measures in case the situation deteriorates.
In an interview on Radio 100,7 on Saturday, Bettel stated that should a decision be taken on Wednesday, he would like the MPs to vote on it as early as Saturday. If this was not possible, the government would consider a return to the state of emergency, the PM added.
However, the president of the CSV parliamentary group, Martine Hansen, stated in an RTL interview on Tuesday that a state of emergency was "out of the question" as the Chamber of Deputies was "operational".
