
The choice was made during the long EU summit in July. However, the Luxembourgish government decided not to let its citizens or businesses pay this additional tax, but rather use its own budget to match the difference.
MPs Mosar and Roth (CSV) recently made a parliamentary inquiry about the introduction of the tax. Ministers Bettel, Gramegna, and Dieschbourg underlined that although the Grand Duchy would not have the exact same taxation method as the EU, the government remained ever so determined to fight climate change and would eventually introduce ways to financially support this struggle.
