Many discussions have taken place over the past ten days, with a good atmosphere, incoming Prime Minister Luc Frieden told the media on Friday afternoon. The CSV lead candidate said work was progressing well, with both parties planning to shape a modern, future-oriented country over the next five years.
Frieden added that there were no fundamental divergences between the CSV and the DP, and that both parties were moving in a common direction.
Twelve task forces have been assembled following numerous discussions to combine the two parties’ manifestos, in preparation for plenary talks which are due to take place from 6-8 November in Senningen, Frieden said.
Current premier Xavier Bettel said the groups were making swift progress amid a “friendly atmosphere” - an element which the CSV’s Claude Wiseler agreed was essential. The task forces are also expected to bring in several experts.
However, when questioned on the potential composition of the new government, Frieden declined to comment, explaining that he had several ideas but felt it was too early to discuss in detail.
Friday also saw the publication of the participants within the different task forces. Details can be found here.
