Open letter to Prime MinisterNGOs call on government to abolish tax breaks for non-sustainable funds

RTL Today
In a joint open letter to Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Greenpeace Luxembourg and the Ecological Movement (Mouvéco) call on the government to ensure that funds that undertake unsustainable investments are no longer eligible for tax breaks.

According to the environmental organisations, only funds that make sustainable investments, excluding nuclear and gas, should be eligible for tax breaks in the future.

This request relates to the taxonomy of the European Union, which classifies nuclear and gas as renewable energies. The Luxembourgish government, together with Austria, intends to oppose this classification. While Greenpeace and Mouvéco agree on this point, both NGOs fell that the government should be consistent in its opposition by not granting tax breaks to non-renewable funds.
