The Ettelbruck station area is set to undergo substantial change over the next few years. Taking inspiration from Esch-sur-Alzette, plans are underway to construct a new youth hostel adjacent to the station.
The future building will accommodate the infrastructure for the youth hostel, alongside office spaces spanning three floors.
This construction endeavour presents a notable civil engineering challenge, as it will be situated above a tunnel and the bus station, all within a 19-acre plot owned by the State.
Upon completion, the new youth hostel will offer 120 beds across 35 rooms, complemented by amenities including a restaurant and a panoramic roof terrace. It will be the tenth establishment within the country’s hostel network.
Minister for Public Works Yuriko Backes recently introduced the project to members of the Chamber of Deputies, with her party colleague Fernand Etgen serving as the rapporteur of the bill.
