It’s been a year since the new Kirchberg bus station became operational. Within a short period of time, the station grew into a crucial component of Kirchberg's public transport system.
However, the presence of a large crane and a nearby construction suggests quite clearly that there is still work in progress. Reduced access around the area in particular is regularly causing traffic jams.
One of the reason behind the works is a new Park and Ride that promises 500 extra parking spaces. The new parking lot is scheduled to open in 2020.
The Kirchberg bus station, the tram stop and the Luxexpo station constitute an intersection where travelers can change their method of transport, alternating between car, bike, bus or tram.
In the future, a total of 19 interchange points will be dotted along the tram route. Officials also hope that the tram route between Findel airport and Cloche d'Or will be operational by 2021/2022.
