The National Reception Office (ONA) has recently inaugurated a new facility for asylum seekers in former customs houses in Wasserbillig.

A total of 63 people can be housed in 11 buildings. ONA's 57th facility will be managed by the Luxembourg Red Cross and offer shelter to asylum seekers while they await the approval or denial of their application. The facility will take in both families and individual men and women.

Prior to the inauguration, local residents were given the opportunity to visit the new asylum centre and ask questions. In a press release, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn welcomed the solidarity effort made by the local government officials in Wasserbillig. In return, the municipality will receive financial and administrative support.
