Luxembourg's national men's basketball team faced an All-Star selection on Saturday in Steinsel to raise funds for children's cancer research.

The gala match pitted the national squad against a team composed of former non-JICL players currently residing in Luxembourg. While the action on the court drew attention, the primary focus of the event was the fight against cancer.

The match raised over €4,000, which will be donated to the Children's Cancer Foundation. The event was organised by Scott Morton, a Steinsel player. Despite being in the midst of preparations for two crucial home games against Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, the national team did not hesitate to participate.

Opposing them was Team Stars. According to Morton, assembling the squad proved relatively straightforward, even though most professional players are currently abroad.

Playing conditions inside the hall, however, were far from ideal. With indoor temperatures matching the sweltering heat outside, organisers introduced adjustments to the rules – including shortening quarters to eight minutes.

The game ultimately ended in a 67–67 draw. It served as a useful test for the national team, which gave several younger players court time while keeping next week's fixtures in mind. Yet the result was secondary to the spirit of the day, with the main highlights being the enjoyment shared by fans and players alike, and above all, the support raised for the Children's Cancer Foundation.
