Backed by the Luxembourg Diabetes Association (ALD) and the Luxembourg Diabetes Society (LDS), this initiative aims to shed light on the symptoms and risks related to diabetes.
Parents are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant if their child exhibits signs such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, and persistent fatigue. These symptoms may serve as potential indicators of diabetes, necessitating prompt attention and medical intervention.
The primary objective of the national campaign is to promote early detection of diabetes in children. Delayed diagnosis can trigger ketoacidosis, a severe metabolic disorder commonly associated with type 1 diabetes. One in two children affected by this condition faces the possibility of life-threatening consequences.
Informative posters highlighting key information about childhood diabetes will be displayed in GPs’ and paediatricians’ surgeries, pharmacies, and schools. The campaign materials will also be made available in digital format.
