This decision has sparked criticism, notably from the local section of the Pirate Party, which expressed regret over the municipality’s stance, stating local authorities would “prevent volunteers from helping.”

In response, the municipality issued a statement acknowledging the good intentions of the two associations involved, namely Street Angels and Neie Start. While appreciating their initiative, the local authorities underscored their commitment to supporting vulnerable community members through “more structured, long-term approaches.”

They highlighted ongoing collaboration between specialised municipal services and Stëmm vun der Strooss (“Voice of the Street”), a national association providing support to Luxembourg’s homeless population.

The municipality extended an invitation to the two other associations to engage in discussions aimed at aligning their efforts with the broader strategy of the municipality.
