Erpeldange-sur-SûreMunicipal council unanimously decides on by-election

RTL Today
Erpeldange-sur-Sûre is set to undergo a by-election, following a unanimous decision by the municipal council on Friday evening.

Mayor Claude Gleis explained that the decision to pursue this course of action stems from the fact that the legislative period still spans around 5.5 years, and the council did not want to remain incomplete for this long. In consideration of cost efficiency, the municipality would like to hold the by-election alongside the European elections scheduled for 9 June. However, the compatibility of this proposal with electoral law remains to be determined.

The vacancy in the municipal council arose with the recent resignation of Municipal Councillor André Bauler from the Democratic Party (DP). As a result, the Erpeldange-sur-Sûre municipal council currently comprises eight members instead of the usual nine.
