A serious traffic disruption unfolded on the A3 motorway Tuesday afternoon when a three-vehicle collision blocked lanes heading toward France.
The accident occurred beneath the new CFL railway bridge in a construction zone where ongoing widening work has reduced capacity to two lanes.
The crash happened in the left lanes of the constrained section, forcing traffic onto the hard shoulder during what would normally be a non-peak period. Emergency responders including police and medical teams are currently at the scene.
Major traffic jams have been reported around Croix de Gasperich, as well as on the slip road from the A1 to the A3 (towards France) and on the slip road connecting the A4 to the A3.
