A motorist lost control over his vehicle on the respective stretch and crashed into a light pole as a result. The impact then pushed the car into a roadside ditch where it came to a halt.
The 30-year-old driver from France, who was the sole passenger of the vehicle, died at the scene of the accident.
The road between Pétange and Rodange remained shut to traffic until 5am on Tuesday.
