At around 9am, the A31 was completely cut off after a serious accident occurred on the A31 heading from Thionville towards Luxembourg. For reasons yet unknown, a motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle, colliding into the central reservation near Kanfen.

According to the Républicain Lorrain, the man suffered a heart attack, but fire fighters were able to resuscitate the man on the spot. A SAMU-Lorraine helicopter alighted on the motorway - closing the route for oncoming traffic - to retrieve the man and take him to Nancy’s main hospital. His condition is life threatening.

The accident closed the A31 temporarily and caused heavy traffic. By 11am these still hadn’t entirely subsided, with slow moving traffic in both directions at the level of Entrange.
