Initial reports already revealed the crash had been severe, requiring the intervention of two rescue helicopters.
The road was completely closed to traffic while emergency services attended the accident. The first report confirmed both individuals were seriously injured.
Later on Sunday, emergency services confirmed that the motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The woman sitting on the back of the bike remains in a serious condition.
