If the motion passes, the municipality will have to hold new elections.

Councillor Marcel Humbert, who is part of the local majority coalition, had previously voted against the draft budget of the majority parties (LSAP and the Green Party).

Speaking to the newspaper Luxemburger Wort, Humbert stated that he felt passed over as a member of the municipal executive and thus no longer had confidence in the body.

Mayor John Lorent from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) intends to resign on 1 January 2022.
