During the committee meeting, Backes highlighted key initiatives, including a focus on expanding train services and advancing the development of the tram network.

Additionally, plans are underway to introduce free Wi-Fi at railway and potentially bus stations, improve safety on trains, and reassess all public transport timetables.

Projections anticipate a notable 40% surge in trips by 2035, underscoring the critical importance of addressing mobility challenges. Backes affirmed the government’s steadfast dedication to sustaining high investment levels in addressing these challenges.

Minister Backes, who also holds the portfolio for Public Works, presented a lineup of seven priority projects to the MPs. Among these projects, initiatives such as the establishment of a certified European school in Junglinster and the construction of a new secondary school in Bonnevoie were highlighted.
