The prosecutor’s office has announced that the 58-year-old woman, reported missing since last Friday, had been found dead. Preliminary investigations raised suspicion about the involvement of the victim’s husband. Several days after the woman’s disappearance, her husband admitted to her murder and disclosed the whereabouts of her body to the authorities.
Investigators recovered the woman’s remains near Scheidgen on Tuesday evening.
The husband was put in pre-trial detention after having faced an examining magistrate on Wednesday and now stands accused of voluntary homicide. The judicial police has been tasked with the further investigation.
The presumption of innocence remains in place until a verdict is announced.
