There have been rumours in recent weeks about incidents involving trainee officers and agents within the Grand Ducal police. On Wednesday, these rumours were confirmed by the Minister of Internal Security, Henri Kox.

The incidents in question occurred in one or more bars in Luxembourg according to Léon Gloden. According to the CSV deputy, the trainees involved behaved in an inappropriate way compared to their future colleagues.

This information is relatively vague but confirms that there was at least one incident. In this context, the Minister recalled that the disciplinary procedures that applied to police officers were also valid for trainee officers.

Henri Kox referred to sanctions and reminded that, according to the amended law of 18 July 2018 on the Grand-Ducal police, he had the possibility of pronouncing, on the advice of the director general of the police, the withdrawal of the status of trainee civil servant from the police service for serious reasons.

It is therefore not excluded that the Minister intervenes in this case, the details of which are still missing at this stage. What is known, however, is that the trainees involved will have to answer for their actions. In particular, they risk being expelled from the program.
